Protecting your personal data is a top priority for us. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data is processed when you use the PetSOS app, the purposes for which it is processed, and the rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. General Information

PetSOS is an app for pet owners that provides support with, among other things:

First aid guidance for pets
Finding veterinarians and veterinary emergency services
Managing pet profiles
Managing medical documents
Appointment and reminder functions
Travel planning with veterinary assistance
Premium subscription

Certain features can also be used without creating a user account.

3. What Data Is Processed?

Depending on how you use the app, the following data may be processed:

Account Data

When registering an account:

Email address
Display name
User ID
Authentication data

When using "Sign in with Apple," only the information provided by Apple is processed.

Pet Data

If entered by the user:

Name
Species
Breed
Date of birth
Sex
Weight
Medical information
Medications
Vaccinations
Allergies
Notes
Documents
Photos of the pet

This data is used solely to provide the relevant features within the app.

Calendar and Reminder Data

If the user creates appointments or reminders, the following information may be processed:

Vaccination appointments
Veterinary appointments
Medication reminders
Custom reminders

This information is used solely to provide the reminder functionality.

Documents

Documents uploaded by the user, such as vaccination records, laboratory reports, or invoices, are stored solely for the purpose of making them available to the user within the app.

Location Data

With the user's permission, PetSOS may use the user's current location to:

Display nearby veterinarians
Find veterinary emergency services in the surrounding area
Calculate distances

Location access is only used after the user has granted the relevant permission.

Location data is not permanently stored and is not used to create movement profiles.

Device Data

Technical information may be processed to improve the stability and functionality of the app, including:

Operating system
App version
Device information
Error logs

This data is used solely for troubleshooting, error analysis, and improving the app.

4. Push Notifications

PetSOS may send push notifications, for example for:

Reminders
Appointments
Vaccinations
Important notices

Push notifications are only enabled after the user has granted the relevant permission.

Permission for push notifications can be withdrawn at any time through the device settings.

5. Premium Subscription

PetSOS offers optional Premium subscriptions.

Payment processing is handled exclusively by Apple through the App Store.

PetSOS does not receive full payment information or credit card details.

Only the information necessary to determine and manage the user's Premium subscription status is processed.

6. Family Sharing

Users can share pet profiles with other people.

Sharing only takes place following an explicit decision by the respective user.

The user is responsible for determining which information is shared with other people.

7. Data Retention

Personal data is stored only for as long as necessary to provide the app and its services or for as long as required by applicable statutory retention obligations.

If a user deletes their account, personal data will be deleted or anonymized within the applicable legal time limits, unless statutory retention obligations require certain data to be retained.

8. Disclosure of Data

Personal data is only disclosed:

Where required by law
Where the user has explicitly consented
Where disclosure is technically necessary to provide the app and its services

Personal data is not sold.

9. Services and Service Providers

Technical service providers may be used to provide the app and its functionality, for example for:

User authentication
Cloud storage
Database operations
Push notifications
Map functionality
Hosting

These service providers process data only in accordance with applicable legal requirements and only to the extent necessary to provide the relevant services.

However, no transmission of data over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

13. Minors

PetSOS is not specifically directed at children under the age of 16.

PetSOS does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 16.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy where necessary due to changes in legal requirements, technical developments, or new features of the app.

The current version of this Privacy Policy is available within the app at any time.
